I am currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority for a Finance Assistant in Nottinghamshire (Hybrid) to work with the team responsible for preparing the Statement of Accounts to organise records held and ensure comprehensive documentation is correctly stored. You will also record requests from the External Auditors, distribute the queries under guidance from Senior Accountants/Accountants and manage the responses.

ROLE: Finance Assistant
LOCATION: Nottinghamshire (Hybrid)
CONTRACT: 3 months (Ongoing)
RATE: £13.06 - £13.50 per hour UMBRELLA

The Role

• To work in the Technical Accounting Team on a fixed term basis with a particular focus on assisting the team to address a backlog around producing the Statement of Accounts and progressing them through the External Audit process to final versions being published.
• Ensure that the team's records are well organised to enable efficient access to information to deal with queries raised.
• Log all queries received from external auditors and distribute to relevant officers for response under guidance of Senior Accountant.
• Collate responses received in response to audit queries and following review by senior members of the Technical Team, upload to External Auditor's online portal.
• Follow up with relevant officers where responses are not received promptly, escalating in accordance with agreed guidelines.

The Person

• Will preferably a qualification in bookkeeping or previous experience of working in an accountancy environment.
• Will have knowledge of a financial accounting package used by a larger organisation.
• Has basic knowledge of accounting practices and entries
