We are looking for a Civilian Dental Hygienist to join our encouraging and welcoming team at RAF Marham, Kings Lynn.

The post is a part-time position of 21.5 hours per week working 8 hours on both Wednesday and Thursday and 5.5 hours on Friday. There may be some flexibility to this.

Job description

The successful candidate will be providing clinical and administrative support for the provision of dental care in DPHC dental centres (DC), to enhance force generation and operational capability and minimise dental morbidity on operations.


Person specification

Main details of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining the standard and cleanliness of the surgery and accommodation for which they are responsible, reporting any deficiencies in accordance with local protocols.
  • Carrying out dental work under the direction of a registered dentist who has examined the patient and indicated in writing the course of treatment to be provided.
  • Cleaning and sterilising all equipment.
  • Recording treatment on each patient’s electronic health record on Defence Medical Information Capability Programme (DMICP).
  • Using DMICP and other IT systems ensuring patient documentation is available to the clinician during treatment. Maintaining, sorting and disposing of records on completion of treatment.

Qualifications

A knowledge of a range of oral health procedures; acquired through training to degree level or to diploma level plus experience to degree equivalent level.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel, but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

The selection at sift stage will be based on your CV. At interview, you will be tested against the Technical Skills listed.

Due to COVID 19, there is now a requirement for dental clinical staff to be fit tested for a FFP3 mask, which has to be worn when managing a patient who is undergoing an aerosol generating procedure (AGP) the successful candidate will be fit tested prior to commencing employment.
